Pogo to the Future is a platforming game for browser and mobile. Players can take control of 7 playable characters and play through 24 levels with 3 unique zones. The game features comic style cutscenes and is based on the storyline that appears in the 4000th issue. Throughout the game the player will encounter a variety of enemies and collectables which they must avoid and collect for the highest score.

Pogo to the Future was advertised in the Beano comic to coincide with the 4000th issue and offered a competition for readers. Players who gave the correct answer based on in-game collectables were offered the chance to become a character in the game and decide the end of the game’s narrative.

My roles on Pogo to the Future:

  • Character select – 7 playable characters with the 3 other bash street kids as companions.
  • 3 full world tile sets – Beanotown Forest, Mount Beano and Cactusville and world objects.
  • UI – Buttons, Menus, Status displays, Level and Character Selects.
  • Bonus character, levels and cutscenes for an external competition winner.
  • Comic style cutscenes with on-brand dialog.
  • Multiple animated enemies and traps.
  • Background animations and collectables.
  • Gameplay scripting and testing.
